Got the official score yesterday, and the AWA score sucks 
With 99 percentile on the Total (and on V/Q), the AWA score of 5.0 (61%) looks horrible. I was hoping against hope for a 5.5, but I guess this is what I’ll have to be content with.
Dont know whether I’ll need to address this low score on my additional essay – it doesnt reflect my true potential; though I surely know (hate to think so) that it reflects my performance on that day. I guess I’ll just let it pass…
I wouldn’t worry too much about the 5.0. Most schools only get concerned if you’re at 4.5 or below, so if your essays are written well it will demonstrate to the adcom that you have good writing skills.
Most schools don’t care too much about the AWA–especially if your grades & essays demonstrate something better. Hell, I got a 5.0 and I don’t really care. Kind of embarassed but not worried.
Its good you scored high on GMAT…but do keep writing the blog. probably as journal till the time you reach shore.
Hey 5.0 is not a bad score after all, it may not be exceptional but it is definitely not something worth talking about in your additional essay.
Don’t even worry about it. No one in ad comm’s even bothers about the AWA score till you have a score below 4.0.
BTW, as far as my down phase is concerned- donno how long will it last but that will in no way discourage me from giving my best [:D]
